DAR ES SALAAM Cardinals Adam Wainwright Jersey , July 14 (Xinhua) -- The Tanzania CommunicationsRegulatory Authority (TCRA) on Friday imposed fines to the tune of5 million U.S. dollars to mobile phone operators for violation ofsubscriber identification module (SIM) cards registrationrules.


James Kilaba, TCRA Director General, mentioned the fined mobilephone operators as Airtel, Vodacom Cardinals Matt Adams Jersey , Tigo, Zantel, Halotel andSmart, adding that the fines should be paid before October 14 Cardinals Lance Lynn Jersey , thisyear.


Kilaba said the mobile phone operators were found with eightdifferent offences related to registration of SIM cards.


Kilaba linked the increased tidal wave of crime incidences inthe country to malpractices in SIM card registration as most of theincidences involved the use of mobile phones.


"TCRA conducted investigations to verify whether the operatorswere complying with SIM card registration requirements," he told anews conference in the capital Dar es Salaam.


He said the six mobile phone operators violated the Electronicand Postal Communications Act, 2010 and the Electronic and PostalCommunication (Licensing) Regulation of 2011 by selling andregistering SIM cards without demanding identity cards from buyers,and registering the SIM cards with unauthorized identity cards.

He said the operators were also found with other offencesincluding registering SIM cards without taking photos ofsubscribers and confirming their particulars.
